Julia Jones is a 17-year old violinist from New York City. She started taking her violin lessons with Viktor Basis at the age of 5 at the Kaufman Music Center. At the early age Julia became a top prize winner of many national and international competitions.
In 2013 Julia won First Prize at the Cremona International Competition, and she became semi-finalist of the 8th International Spohr Competition in Weimar, Germany. She received Grand Prize at the 4th ENKOR International Competition in 2016 and gave solo recitals at the Christ Church NYC, Ann Goodman Hall at the Kaufman Music Center. Julia became a Bronze Winner at the National MTNA Competition, and the 1st Prize at the 3rd Oskar Rieding International Competition for Young Musicians, Special Prize for the best Oskar Rieding Piece, and Special Prize to perform with Slovenia Philharmonic String Orchestra in 2019/2020 season, and the First Prize Winner and Best Performance Winner at Washington National Youth Competition. In 2017, Julia gave a solo recital at Castelnuovo di Carfagnana and as a winner of the 2018 Kaufman Music Center Concerto Competition, and performed with Kaufman Music Center Orchestra at Merkin Hall, conducted by Nathan Hetherington. In the following year she performed Sibelius Violin Concerto with Park Avenue Chamber Symphony under conductor David Bernard.
In 2018 -2019, she became a recipient of merit scholarship from Kaufman Music Center, and held a solo recital at Schloss Hohenpriessnitz in Germany where she attended masterclass with Prof. Viktor Tretyakov and Natalia Likhopoi. In the summer of 2018 Julia joined The Perlman Music Program where she studies with Itzhak Perlman, Li Lin, and Cathrine Cho. In December 2019 Julia was invited on a concert tour to Italy to perform Bach Double Violin Concerto with European Youth Spirit Orchestra(EYSO) under button of Maestro Igor Coretti Kuret.
In 2020 she became the First Prize Winner at Lyra Competition, Gold Star at the Music & Stars International Competition, and received invitation in the future to collaborate with KNS Classical, the First Prize at International Fringe Association Competition, and full scholarship offer to the Heartland Chamber Festival. She participated in Dorothy DeLay Masterclass Series conducted by Dmitri Berlinsky, where she had masterclass with Philippe Quint and Cho-Liang Lin and was excepted to Second International Viktor Tretyakov Violin Competition. She got invitation to participate at Shlomo Mintz String Academy online in 2021.
In 2021 she won the First Prize and Grace Meng, US House Representative Award at the New York International Music Concourse, the Grand Prize at New York Artists International Competition, the Grand Prize at International Grande Competition and the Grand Prize at International Young Artists Competition.
Julia performed at the musical evening at Joshua Bell's Fundraising event. She also participated at many charitable concert such as Fundraising events benefiting Kaufman Music Center where she performed Bach Double Violin Concerto with Joshua Bell. She became part of NGO Committee on Migration, joined YouthArt Force group where she performs at the charitable concerts benefiting different causes.
Julia participated in masterclass with Dmitri Berlinsky, Felix Andrievsky, Vadim Gluzman, Cathrine Cho, Alma Vamos, Shlomo Mintz, Sungsic Yang, Cihat Askin, Sonig Tchakerian, Natalia Likhopoi, Viktor Tretyakov, Cho-Liang Lin, Gregory Kalinovsky, Sheryl Staples, Philippe Quint.
Julia attended various music festivals in Europe and the United States. She performed at Merkin Hall, Weill Recital Hall, Ann Goodman Hall, National Bastille Opera, Paris, Museo Del Violino in Cremona, Italy. She performed at the annual Gala for Kaufman Music Center in NYC, and Henry Schneider Scholarship Luncheon and Concert, and many other concerts around NYC. Julia is currently in 11th Grade at Laurel Springs High School.
